What they do
THE PURPOSE of THE VETERANS of FOREIGN WARS of THE UNITED STATES is to PRESERVE and SUPPORT THE PATRIOTIC and HISTORICAL INTERESTS IN OUR COUNTRY, OUR COMMUNITIES and OUR VETERANS, to STRENGTHEN THE COMMON BONDS of THE MEN and WOMEN WHO HAVE SERVED and WHO ARE CURRENTLY SERVING IN OUR MILITARY, to ASSIST THEM and THEIR FAMILIES, to ENHANCE THEIR QUALITY of LIFE, and to MAINTAIN TRUE ALLEGIANCE to THE CONSTITUTION and LAWS of THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA and DEFEND HER FROM ALL ENEMIES. WE ACCOMPLISH OUR MISSION BY PERPETUATING THE MEMORY of OUR DEAD THROUGH PUBLIC and PRIVATE ACTS of REMEMBRANCE, PRESERVING and DEFENDING THE HONOR, INTEGRITY, and RIGHTS of ALL VETERANS and THOSE CURRENTLY SERVING IN THE MILITARY, FOSTERING PATRIOTISM THROUGH EDUCATION and VOLUNTEERISM WITH THE COMMUNITY, and AVOCATING to A STRONG NATIONAL DEFENSE.
Should I give to this charity?
Basic public information is available, but it is not enough to judge how well donations are used. Ask the charity for a current spending breakdown and results.
Plain answer: A tax form cannot prove that a charity is doing good. It can show how the charity says it spent its money—and point out questions you should ask.

Money made simple
Ask these three easy questions
- Who did you help? Ask for a recent story or report that shows real results.
- What will my money do? Ask exactly what your gift will pay for.
- Is this really the charity? Give only through its official website or confirmed phone number.
Worth asking: Expenses exceeded revenue by $17,536 this year. Ask whether that was planned or caused by a one-time event.
Bottom line: Do not decide from a name, mission statement, or tax status alone. Look at where the money went, then ask what changed, who was helped, and what your gift will do. YouCanGiveBack does not endorse or grade organizations.
