MEMBERS of TVFD HAVE STAYED STEADY REGARDING RESPONDING to EMERGENCIES, HOSTING TRAINING, WORKING to RECRUIT NEW MEMBERS and STAYING INVOLVED IN COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENTS. THIS YEAR, THE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED to ABOUT 60 FIRE-RELATED CALLS, PROVIDED MUTUAL AID to NEIGHBORING TOWNS, and ASSISTED WITH MEDICAL CALLS. SOME of THE COMMUNITY FUNCTIONS, and FUNDRAISERS THAT HAVE BEEN HELD BY TVFD THIS YEAR ARE OUR ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT. WE HAD MANY FAMILIES JOIN THIS EVENT to HUNT for HUNDREDS of CANDY-FILLED EGGS. OUR FIRE PREVENTION DAY TOOK PLACE AT THE TUNBRIDGE CENTRAL SCHOOL. DURING THIS EVENT THE CHILDREN HAD THE OPPORTUNITY to EXPERIENCE FIRE PREVENTION SAFETY. IN DECEMBER TVFD FILLED THE ICE RINK LOCATED AT THE TUNBRIDGE CENTRAL SCHOOL WITH THE HELP of COMMUNITY MEMBERS. FILLING THE ICE RINK REQUIRES ROUGHLY 5 FIREFIGHTERS, 3 HOURS of TIME and MANY THOUSANDS of GALLONS of WATER. THE MEMORIAL DAY BBQ WAS A GREAT SUCCESS WITH OVER 600 HALVES of CHICKEN.
