THE THOREAU SCHOOL PARENT TEACHER GROUP (PTG) WORKS to ENHANCE THE EDUCATIONAL, CULTURAL, and SOCIAL EXPERIENCE of ALL THOREAU ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS. THE PTG PROVIDES A FORUM for COLLABORATION AMONG PARENTS, TEACHERS, STAFF, and ADMINISTRATORS, SUPPORTS PROGRAMS and ACTIVITIES THAT BENEFIT STUDENTS and FAMILIES, and HELPS STRENGTHEN THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE SCHOOL and THE WIDER COMMUNITY. THE ORGANIZATION PROMOTES UNDERSTANDING of SCHOOL POLICIES and INITIATIVES, FOSTERS A POSITIVE SCHOOL SPIRIT THROUGH THE THOREAU C.A.R.E.S. VALUES, WHICH STAND for COOPERATION, ASSERTION, RESPONSIBILITY, EMPATHY, and SELF-CONTROL, and SERVES AS A LIAISON BETWEEN THE PARENT COMMUNITY and THE SCHOOL SYSTEM.
