ESTABLISHED IN MAY of 2005, THE MCSAO NOW OVERSEES, REGULATES and PROMOTES HIGH SCHOOL INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETIC PROGRAMS for ITS 51 MEMBERS THROUGHOUT THE COMMONWEALTH. DURING THE FALL of 2005, THE MCSAO FACILITATED THE FIRST EVER MEMBER CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER LEAGUE TOURNAMENT, HELD AT UMASS-BOSTON. IN THE SPRING of 2006, BASEBALL and SOFTBALL LEAGUES WERE FORMALIZED. WITHIN THE PAST FEW YEARS, CROSS-COUNTRY, TRACK and VOLLEYBALL WERE ADDED. WERE OPTIMISTIC THAT THE INCREASED INVOLVEMENT and ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS WILL FURTHER ENSURE THAT STUDENT-ATHLETES ATTENDING CHARTER SCHOOLS WILL BE AFFORDED OPPORTUNITIES for GROWTHAND DEVELOPMENT ON THE ATHLETIC FIELDS AS WELL AS IN THE CLASSROOM. IT is OUR BELIEF THAT PARTICIPATION ON ATHLETIC TEAMS is A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE THAT CAN PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN A CHILDS EDUCATION IN ORDER to PROMOTE THE TOTAL EDUCATIONAL PROCESS, THE MCSAO PLACES A HIGH VALUE ON GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP FROM ITS PLAYERS, COACHES, and FANS. WE ALSO VALUE THE FUNDAMENTA
