What they do
THE MICHIGAN PROPERTY and CASUALTY GUARANTY ASSOCIATION ("MPCGA") is AN UNINCORPORATED ASSOCIATION of ALL PROPERTY and CASUALTY INSURERS AUTHORIZED to TRANSACT INSURANCE IN MICHIGAN. MPCGA WAS CREATED BY AN ACT of THE MICHIGAN LEGISLATURE, MCL 500.7901 ET SEQ., IN ORDER to PROTECT THE PUBLIC AGAINST FINANCIAL LOSSES to POLICYHOLDERS and CLAIMANTS AS A RESULT of PROPERTY and CASUALTY INSURANCE COMPANY INSOLVENCIES. WHEN A MEMBER INSURER BECOMES INSOLVENT, MPCGA HAS A DUTY to PAY CERTAIN OBLIGATIONS of THE INSOLVENT INSURER THAT COME WITHIN THE ACTS DEFINITION of COVERED CLAIMS. MPCGA DOES NOT HANDLE CLAIMS ARISING OUT of LIFE or DISABILITY INSURANCE or ANNUITY CONTRACTS.
Should I give to this charity?
Basic public information is available, but it is not enough to judge how well donations are used. Ask the charity for a current spending breakdown and results.
Plain answer: A tax form cannot prove that a charity is doing good. It can show how the charity says it spent its money—and point out questions you should ask.

Money made simple
Ask these three easy questions
- Who did you help? Ask for a recent story or report that shows real results.
- What will my money do? Ask exactly what your gift will pay for.
- Is this really the charity? Give only through its official website or confirmed phone number.
Pay context: The highest compensation shown in this filing is $289,268 for JEFFERY JENKINS (EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR). Compare pay with organizations of similar size and complexity.
Bottom line: Do not decide from a name, mission statement, or tax status alone. Look at where the money went, then ask what changed, who was helped, and what your gift will do. YouCanGiveBack does not endorse or grade organizations.
