IN 2025, THE CHATEAUGAY LAKE FOUNDATION (CLF) MANAGED CONTROL of INVASIVE EURASIAN WATERMILFOIL(MILFOIL) ON CHATEAUGAY LAKE for AN EIGHTEENTH SEASON. THE CLF RAISED FUNDS and HIRED DIVE CREWS to CONDUCT TWO WEEKS of HAND HARVESTING to REMOVE THE INVASIVE AQUATIC PLANT UNDER PERMITS FROM REGULATORY AGENCIES. IN 2024, THE CLF HAD CONDUCTED A PILOT TREATMENT of EURASIAN WATERMIFOIL USING HERBICIDE. THE TREATMENT TARGETED ONE of THE MOST HEAVILY INFESTED and HIGHEST-USE BOATING LANES of THE LAKE. THE POST-TREATMENT SURVEY FOUND THE INVASIVE PLANT HAD BEEN REDUCED FROM 61 PERCENT to 2.4 PERCENT OCCURRENCE. BASED ON THE SUCCESS of THE TREATMENT, THE CLF is PURSUING A MULTI-YEAR PLAN to TREAT INFESTED AREAS of THE LAKE USING HERBICIDE IN COMBINATION WITH HAND-HARVESTING to MAINTAIN CONTROL and EXTEND THE TIME BETWEEN TREATMENTS. IN 2025, CONTROL WAS LIMITED to HAND- HARVESTING WITH NO HERBICIDE TREATMENT. THE CLF AGAIN INSTALLED SEASONAL HAZARD BUOYS to WARN BOATERS AWAY FROM DENSE MILFOIL BE
