During Open Shop Hours, At Least Two Experienced Volunteer Mechanics Were On Shift to Guide Members and Drop-in Patrons Through Repairs and Maintenance On Their Own Bicycles. Rather Than Performing Repairs for Patrons, Mechanics Coached Participants Through Each Step, Transferring The Skills Needed to Maintain Their Bicycles Independently Going Forward. Stand Time Was Offered to Non-members for As Little As $5 Per Hour, and Participants Were Never Turned Away for Lack of Funds.
