COMMUNITY EVENTS- SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY BY SPONSORING VARIOUS EVENTS to PROMOTE POSITIVITY and INVOLVEMENT. A MONTHLY COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP of DIFFERENT AREAS IN FAIRFILED WITH FOUNDATION MEMBERS and COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS. THE MATT GARCIA FOUNDATION WILL PROVIDE GLOVES, GARBAGE PICKERS and BUCKETS for COLLECTING THE TRASH. STUDENTS CAN EARN COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS. LUNCH is PROVIDED AFTER CLEAN-UP. PARTICIPATE IN DOWNTOWN FAIRFIELD EVENTS- TOMATO FESTIVAL, DOWNTOWN FAIRFIELD HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING, WINTER EXTRAVAGANZA, and HEREOS to HELPERS. 25 STUDENTS ARE SELECTED FROM THE MATT GARCIA CAREER and COLLEGE ACADEMY. EACH STUDENT RECEIVES A $100 TARGET GIFT CARD and is PARTNERED WITH A FAIRFIELD POLICE OFFICER or FAIRFIELD FIRE DEPARTMENT OFFICER to SHOP AT TARGET. THE FOUNDATION MEMBERS FACILITATE THE EVENT. THE FOUNDATION DONATES THE USE of OFFICE SPACE for A ONCE-A-MONTH MEETING of THE HOMICIDE SURVIVORS SUPPORT GROUP.
