THE 16TH STREET THEATER NFP

What they do
THE 16TH STREET THEATER DEVELOPED and PRODUCED DIVERSE NEW PLAYS IN ORDER to TELL THE STORIES of ALL IN OUR COMMUNITY. IN 2022, THE THEATER PRODUCED TWO WORLD PREMIERE SHOWS, ONE of WHICH WAS AWARDED A JOSEPH JEFFERSON AWARD for BEST NEW PLAY. THE SHOWS RAN for 18 PERFORMANCES EACH, WITH MORE THAN 250 TICKETS MADE AVAILABLE FREE to THE COMMUNITY. FOUR NEW PLAYS WERE DEVELOPED THROUGH THE WRITE COLLECTIVE, A VIRTUAL WEEKLY WRITERS GROUP THAT ORIGINATED DURING THE COVID LOCKDOWN and CONTINUED THROUGH NOVEMBER 2022. THE WRITE COLLECTIVE MENTORED NEW PLAYWRIGHTS and DEVELOPED THEIR WORK, OFFERING FREE GUIDANCE and SPACE for A DIVERSE RANGE of ARTISTS to CREATE. THE WRITE COLLECTIVE PRESENTED FREE VIRTUAL STAGED READINGS of NEW PLAYS to THE COMMUNITY FOUR TIMES A YEAR. DUE to THE END of THE COLLABORATION WITH THE NORTH BERWYN PARK DISTRICT WHICH PROVIDED THE SPACE for THE THEATER, 16TH STREET MADE THE DIFFICULT DECISION to CLOSE DOWN AT THE END of 2022, MAKING THIS ITS LAST SEASON.

Money made simple
Ask these three easy questions
- Who did you help? Ask for a recent story or report that shows real results.
- What will my money do? Ask exactly what your gift will pay for.
- Is this really the charity? Give only through its official website or confirmed phone number.
Worth asking: Expenses exceeded revenue this year. Ask whether that was planned or caused by a one-time event. The complete report shows the exact difference and financial history.
Bottom line: Do not decide from a name, mission statement, or tax status alone. Look at where the money went, then ask what changed, who was helped, and what your gift will do. YouCanGiveBack does not endorse or grade organizations.
