TYLER CREEK WATERSHED COALITION
EIN 26-4295821 · Environmental Beautification (C50)
What they do
Two Board Members Continue to Collect and Analyze Water Samples From 8 Sites In The Watershed. The Water Samples Are Analyzed In The Chem Lab By The City of Elgin Water Department. Five Board Members Have Created A Demonstration Native Plant Raingarden Near The Creek and Are Using It to Encourage Others, Who Live Near The Creek, to Create One In Their Yards to Reduce The Runoff to The Creek. Climate Change Has Produced More Frequent and Larger Rain Events That Increase The Quantity and Intensity of The Water Entering The Creek. This Causes More Flooding and Erosion. Therefor We Need to Do Everything We Can to Reduce Runoff to The Creek. Our Goal is to Create At Least 4 More Raingardens In The Community In 2023. We Have An Annual Public Meeting In October to Summarize Our Accomplishments, Educate The Attendees, and Encourage Support of Our Goals.
