What they do

BOOTS ON THE GROUND IS A TEAM OF VETERANS THAT CARE ABOUT AMERICAN VETERANS. WE COLLECT AND DELIVER FOOD AND FURNITURE FOR VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES, AND THESE ARE USUALLY THE VETERANS THAT EVERYONE ELSE OVERLOOKED OR HAVE FORGOTTEN. NO VETERAN SHOULD BE HUNGRY OR SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO SHIPS CARE PACKAGES MONTHLY TO MILITARY UNITS THAT DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO CERTAIN SUPPLIES. WE PROVIDE WHAT WE CAN TO THOSE THAT NEED IT MOST. WE OPEN OUR DOORS AND HEARTS TO ANY VETERAN THAT NEEDS OUR ASSISTANCE. WE ARE HERE FOR THE FAMILIES OF THE DEPLOYED. WE ARE HERE FOR THE FAMILIES OF THOSE TAKEN IN THE SERVICE OF THEIR COUNTRY.

Plain answer: A tax form cannot prove that a charity is doing good. It can show how the charity says it spent its money—and point out questions you should ask.

Ask these three easy questions

  1. Who did you help? Ask for a recent story or report that shows real results.
  2. What will my money do? Ask exactly what your gift will pay for.
  3. Is this really the charity? Give only through its official website or confirmed phone number.

Bottom line: Do not decide from a name, mission statement, or tax status alone. Look at where the money went, then ask what changed, who was helped, and what your gift will do. YouCanGiveBack does not endorse or grade organizations.
