What they do

1. We Support People With Mental Illness and Their Families By Helping Them to Find Coping Mechanisms for Daily Struggles Including Mental Health Support Groups, Classes, Workshops, and Special Events. 2. We Educate People Who Have Mental Illness, Their Families, Caregivers, and The Community At Large In Order to Improve Resources, Services, and Knowledge By Reducing Misinformation. 3. We Promote Conversation In Our Community to Remove Stigmas That Are Often Associated With Mental Illness. NAMI Long Beach Area Works With Community-based Organizations, Families, Caregivers, Health Organizations, Business, Law Enforcement, Legal Advocacy, Schools, and Youth Organizations. 4. We Advocate for More Research Leading to Eradication of Mental Illness and Promote Social Policy That Includes Expanded Services and Improved Treatment for Our Loved Ones Leading to An Improved System of Mental Health Services Across The Nation.
