New Works is A Site Specific Theatre Company Presenting New Works to Underserved Communities. Best Laid Plans A New Work Based On The True of A Blind Architect Story Was Presented At An 80 Seat Theatre With 16 Performances, With Several Sold Out Performances. Pre Show Talks Were Given Regarding The Experience of Blindness, Learning Braille, How to Navigate and Architectural Adaptation That Assist Both Sighted and Non Sighted Individuals and New Technology. We Worked With The Braille Institute, The Center for The Blind and Eyehesive. Braille Cards Were Given Prior to Performance So The Audience Could Follow As The Main Character Learns How to Deal With His Blindness. The Lead In The Play Was Played By A Blind Actor. The Message of The Show Was Disability Does Not Mean Inability. Our Next Project Will Be Developing New Works With The Senior Disabled Population
