What they do
THE HELENA PROTECTIVE POLICE ASSOCIATION (ASSOCIATION) PROVIDES SUPPORT to ITS MEMBERS and THEIR FAMILIES. THE ASSOCATION PROVIDS A VENUE for MEMBERS to COLLECTIVELY MAKE DECISIONS AIMED AT IMPROVING WORKING CONDITIONS, WAGES or SIMILAR BENEFITS, LENDING FINANCIAL SUPPORT for FUNERAL or MEDICAL EXPENSES, ORGANIZING EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR to FACILITATE TEAM BUILDING and BONDING EXPERIENCES, and PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES for THE MEMBERS to WORK TOGETHER ON CHARITABLE UNDERTAKINGS. THE ASSOCIATION ORGANIZES MEMBER EVENTS SUCH AS A SUMMER PICNIC, CHRISTMAS PARTY, RETIREMENT PARTIES, and ORGANIZING A SOFTBALL TEAM. THESE PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES for THE MEMBERS and THEIR FAMILIES to COME TOGETHER and BOND OUTSIDE of WORKING HOURS WHICH FACILITATES A COHESIVE and SAFE WORKING ENVIRONMENT and HIGHER MORALE DURING SHIFTS. EVERY YEAR THE HPPA COVERS THE COST for A MEMBER to GO to THE MONTANA POLICE PROTECTIVE ASSOCIATIONS CONFERENCE.
Should I give to this charity?
Basic public information is available, but it is not enough to judge how well donations are used. Ask the charity for a current spending breakdown and results.
Plain answer: A tax form cannot prove that a charity is doing good. It can show how the charity says it spent its money—and point out questions you should ask.

Money made simple
Ask these three easy questions
- Who did you help? Ask for a recent story or report that shows real results.
- What will my money do? Ask exactly what your gift will pay for.
- Is this really the charity? Give only through its official website or confirmed phone number.
Bottom line: Do not decide from a name, mission statement, or tax status alone. Look at where the money went, then ask what changed, who was helped, and what your gift will do. YouCanGiveBack does not endorse or grade organizations.
