The American Legion, Chartered In 1919 Has Achieved Significant Service Accomplishments By Lobbying for Veterans Benefits, Founding The VA, Drafting The Original GI Bill, and Supporting Youth Through Programs Like Boys State and Legion Baseball. Department of Georgia American Legion Post 8 is Located In One of The Smallest Populated and Poorest Counties In Georgia. We Strive to Promote Social Welfare and Maintain Comradeship By Having A Veterans Breakfast During Our Monthly Meetings, Free of Charge, for Any Veteran. Although Our Membership is Aging, We Are Still Able to Assist Disabled and Needy Veterans/survivors When Called Upon, Even If It is A Simple As Buddy Checks. We Also Continue to Foster Patriotism In The Community By Ensuring Our National Emblem is Proudly Displayed Throughout for Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day.
