Anti-Displacement CampaignHousing Long Beach is Working to Bring Community Voices Into The Public Process of Shaping The Citys Housing Element, An 8-year State-mandated Plan That Will Become The Citys Road Map to Meet The Housing Needs In The Long Beach. The HLB Steering Committee, Comprised of Residents and Allies, Has Developed A Simple Community-based Platform of Four Priorities to Impact The Passage of The Housing Element. This Platform Includes: A Mixed Income Housing Ordinance (wherein A Percentage of All New Development is Affordable); A Permanent Local Source of Funds for Affordable Housing; Creation of A Rent Trust Account Which Allows Tenants Living In Substandard Conditions to Pay Their Rent to The City Until Conditions Are Fixed, Holding Landlords Accountable and Improving The Existing Stock of Housing; Identification of Sites for Affordable Housing In Quality and Safe Neighborhoods That Have Access to Transit and Other Community Resources.
