During 2024 The Foundation In Partnership With Virginia Cooperative Extension/Norfolk Master Gardeners Continued The Overhaul of The Gardens Primary Public Facing Native Plant and Pollinator Bed. Considerable Volunteer Manpower Was Required to Eradicate Invasive Plants and Restore The Biome to Support More Appropriate Plants. In Addition, The Square Foot Garden Demonstration Garden Supplied 1,825 Pounds of Fresh Produce to The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia. During The Spring of 2024 Our Annual Plant Sale and Craft Show Provided A Venue to Engage With Hundreds of Members of The Public With Horticultural Education. In January, We Held A Public Celebration to Commemorate The 125th Anniversary of Fred Heuttes Birth Highlighted By Attendance By Norfolks Mayor and A Mayoral Proclamation Thus Bringing Attention to The Work of Fred Heutte and The Friends of Fred Heutte Foundation. In All, More Than 55 Master Gardeners and Community Volunteers Worked More Than 1,743 Hours In The Fred Heutte
