The Annual Edisto Plein Air Paint Out A 4-day Event Open to Artists Who Specialize In Painting Outdoors In The Elements. The Goal is to Allow Artists to Experience The Beautiful Island As Well As to Provide A Venue for The Public to See and Purchase The Resulting Artwork. Limited to 100 Attendees Artists Must Register for The Event and Registrations Quickly Sell Out Each Year. Most of The Artists Come From Outside The Immediate Area Although Predominately The Southeastern United States. Paintings Created During The Event Can Be Submitted for Public Exhibition At The End of The Week With Cash Prizes Awarded By An Impartial Judge. Artworks Are Available for Viewing and Purchase By The Public At Prices Determined By The Artists With 90% of The Sales Proceeds Returned to Them. Edisto Island Residents and Visitors Alike Attend The Public Exhibition to Appreciate and Purchase The Paintings.
