BASED ON RECENT TRENDS and STATISTICS RELATED to CHILDREN and VARIOUS FAMILY STRUCTURES THE FOLLOWING is OCCURRING: ACCORDING to THE U.S. CENSUS BUREAU, ABOUT 23 MILLION CHILDREN LIVE IN A SINGLE-PARENT HOUSEHOLD. ACCORDING to THE ANNIE E. CASEY FOUNDATIONS KIDS COUNT DATA CENTER ESTIMATES ABOUT 5 MILLION CHILDREN IN THE U.S. HAVE EXPERIENCED INCARCERATION of A PARENT and 11 MILLION CHILDREN ARE LIVING IN FAMILIES WITH INCOMES BELOW THE POVERTY LINE.
