What they do
THE MUSEUM IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FROM APRIL-DECEMBER ON WEDNESDAYS, AS WELL AS SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS. ON WEDNESDAYS AND SATURDAYS, THE DISPLAYS ARE ACCESSIBLE FOR VIEWING, AND SOME OF OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE ON SITE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS. ON SUNDAYS, LARGER CREWS OF VOLUNTEERS ARE PRESENT TO OPERATE ALL THREE MODEL TRAIN LAYOUTS. WE CHARGE A SMALL ADMISSION FEE ON THOSE DAYS TO HELP OFFSET OUR OPERATING COSTS.ON THE WEEKEND BEFORE AND AFTER CHRISTMAS WE RUN TRAINS ON BOTH SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS, AS WE WELCOME MANY MORE VISITORS THAN ON A TYPICAL SUNDAY. OUR LAST RUN DAY OF THE YEARS TRADITIONALLY HAS THE BEST ATTENDANCE. THIS YEAR A TV CREW FROM SAN FRANCISCOS ABC7 VISITED US AND WE WERE FEATURED ON THE 5PM AND 6PM NEWS.IN 2019, A TOTAL OF 7410 INDIVIDUALS VISITED THE MUSEUM. THIS WAS OUR 7TH HIGHEST NUMBER SINCE THE BEGINNING OF RECORDING VISITOR NUMBERS IN 1993.

Plain answer: A tax form cannot prove that a charity is doing good. It can show how the charity says it spent its money—and point out questions you should ask.

Money made simple
Ask these three easy questions
- Who did you help? Ask for a recent story or report that shows real results.
- What will my money do? Ask exactly what your gift will pay for.
- Is this really the charity? Give only through its official website or confirmed phone number.
Bottom line: Do not decide from a name, mission statement, or tax status alone. Look at where the money went, then ask what changed, who was helped, and what your gift will do. YouCanGiveBack does not endorse or grade organizations.

Pause before giving. This filing reports that 0.0% of spending went to fundraising and 13.0% went to mission work. Ask the charity to explain these numbers and show recent results.
