IN 2025, WATOTO READ, THROUGH JESUIT REFUGEE SERVICE, WAS BLESSED to BE ABLE to HELP TWO REFUGEE CAMPS NEAR NDJAMENA - KALAMBARI and GUILMEY. THESE CAMPS SUPPORT 10,627 REFUGEES. WE SUPPLIED MATERIALS to TWO PRESCHOOLS, FUNDED 10 TEACHERS and STAFF, and FACILITATED TRAINING for MEMBERS of THE COMMUNITY WHO NOW PLAY AN ACTIVE ROLE IN OPERATING THESE SCHOOLS. BECAUSE of THIS SUPPORT, 427 CHILDREN AGED 3-5 FOUND A SAFE PLACETO LEARN and DISCOVER THAT THEY ARE LOVED BY OTHERS ACROSS THE WORLD. IN ADDITION, WE PROVIDED SUPPORT for 12 CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS THROUGH FOOD ASSISTANCE, BLANKETS, MEDICAL CARE and EVEN A PAIR of CRUTCHES.
