PEER SUPPORT for FORMERLY INCARCERATED MEN: IN 2022 PEER SUPPORT WORKERS, WELL-TRAINED, FORMERLY INCARCERATED INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE EXHIBITED STRONG RECOVERIES and SELF-AWARENESS, HELPED 430 RECENTLY RELEASED MEN and WOMEN TRANSITION to PRODUCTIVE LIVES "ON THE OUTSIDE". THE PEER SUPPORT WORKERS PROVIDE CASE MANAGEMENT, HELP EACH PARTICIPANT GAIN and MAINTAIN EMPLOYMENT, and HELP FIND HOUSING for PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS. WE ALSO MAKE REFERRALS to BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PROVIDERS for THOSE EXPERIENCING SERIOUS MENTAL ILLNESS, and DISTRIBUTE THE MATERIAL SUPPORT WE GIVE to EACH CLIENT. AMONG OUR PEER SUPPORT WORKERS SKILLS ARE THE ABILITY to FACILITATE SUPPORT GROUPS, AS WELL AS RESPOND to EACH PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS INDIVIDUAL NEEDS and PRIORITIES. BECAUSE BEST CHANCE is A PEER-LED NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION, OUR BUDGET for PEER SUPPORT WORKERS is A MAJOR PART of THE BEST CHANCE INVESTMENT IN OUR COMMUNITY.
