The 2023 BOOM Freedom Summer (BFS) Project Provided FREE Culturally Responsive Summer Enrichment to K-8 Children (FLAMES) In The Southern Sector of Dallas. Specifically, We Offered Project-based STEAM Activities to Black & Brown Working -class Families At No Cost In An Effort to Combat The "summer Slide" (summer Learning Loss). BFS Took Place From June 12, 2023, to July 28, 2023, At The for Oak Cliff Community Center On Ledbetter Drive. It Was Managed By A Leadership Team of 4 Early Career Teachers (TRAILBLAZERS) and Facilitated By College Students (SPARKS) From The Dallas Metroplex. Each Week Was Connected to A Specific Principle/focus (affirmation, Decolonization, Organization, and Innovation) That Strengthened Students Confidence, Cultural Lenses, and Competence With Key 21st-century Skills. Each Day Began At 8 AM With A Nutritious Breakfast, Followed By An Energizing UMOJA (unity) Session Where SPARKS & FLAMES Learned Celebratory Cheers & Chants; and Listened to A Local Community M
