THE BUSH HOUSE MUSEUM is THE HISTORIC HOME of ASAHEL BUSH II (ONE of THE FOUNDERS of THE STATESMAN NEWSPAPER and PIONEER TRUST BANK), WHO BUILT THE HOUSE IN 1878. THE MUSEUM PROMOTES and INTERPRETS THE HISTORY of THE BUSH FAMILY-AND ALL of SALEM- THROUGH (A) THE COLLECTION, CONSERVATION, and DISPLAY of HISTORICAL MATERIALS, and (B) THE PRESERVATION of THE HISTORIC BUSH HOUSE and GARDENS. MORE THAN 2,700 PEOPLE VISIT EACH YEAR, INCLUDING AT LEAST 400 LOCAL STUDENTS ON SCHOOL TOURS.
