Approximately 85% of Customers Were Hamtramck Residents and The Stores Central Downtown Location Allows Walkable Access for Residents Who Cannot Afford Private Transportation. The Program Also Served As A Workforce Development and Integration Opportunity. Joy Thrift Store Partnered With A Government-supported Program to Engage 13 Community Volunteers With Limited English Proficiency Helping Them Build Soft Skills and Practice English In A Supportive Environment. As A Result Three Participants Secured Full-time Employment. Additionally The Store Distributed Approximately $5,500 Worth of Resellable Donated Goods Directly to Low-income Individuals and Households Facing Urgent Community Needs.
