WE WERE THERE, INC. is SUPPORTING THE PRODUCTION and DISTRIBUTION of DOCUMENTARY FILMS THAT TAKE AN IN-DEPTH LOOK AT THE LIVES of LGBTQ. THE ORGANIZATION AIMS to PROVIDE FREE VIEWINGS and LECTURES ABOUT THE HISTORY of THE LBGTQ PIONEERS IN THE FILMS AT SCHOOLS and UNIVERSITIES AROUND THE COUNTRY. THE GOAL is to ENLIGHTEN and EMPOWER LGBTQ YOUTH THROUGH A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING of THEIR SHARED CULTURAL HISTORY. STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT COONECTING AT-RISK LGBTQ YOUTH to THEIR HISTORY HELPS THEM LEAD MORE INTEGRATED LIVES and GIVES THEM A SENSE of COMMUNITY and BELONGING.
