Grant Drum Line Music Association Was Founded In 2009 Simultaneously With Grant Drum Line. At The Time of Its Formation An Association Was Not Being Discussed. The Main Drive Was to Support Students Through Positive Engagement and Opportunities. As The Drum Line Grow So Did Vision and Desire to Serve More Students In Need. Compelling Research In Combination With Our Collective Experiences As Educators Has Led The Association to Believe That Social Emotional Competencies Are Important to Academic Preparation In Helping Students Succeed In College, The Workforce, and Maintaining Mental Health. There Has Also Been Recognition That These Factors Offer Promising Levers for Raising The Achievement of Underprivileged Children and Ultimately, Closing Achievement Gaps Based On Race and Income.Today The Grant Drum Line Music Association is Driven to Provide Students The Opportunity to Tap Into Their Musical Nature While Simultaneously Building Their Sense of Self-awareness, Social Awareness, Rel
