In Its First Year of Operation The Elgin Centre Successfully Assisted 5 Struggling Facilities. 3 of These Facilities Received Assistance At No Cost to Them. The Results Were Facilities That Were Better Able to Provide Proper Welfare for The Animals In Their Care. This Has Been Measurable By Positive Internal Audits of Existing Practices As Well As One Facility Receiving USDA Certification That Had Previously Never Been Certified Before. Additionally The Centre Provided Free Webinars to Animal Care Technicians. Finally The Centre Along With The American Society of Primatologists Assisted With The Formation of A League of Primate Sanctuaries With The Goal of Sharing Best Practices Between Them.
