MINNESOTA HARD BOP COLLECTIVE "Sit In Series" PERFORMANCE WORKSHOPS: Phase 1: Public-school Outreach - The MHBC Will Visit Public School Band Programs to Show The Students Techniques On Preparation for Sitting In Such As Practicing With A Metronome Transposition and Harmonic Form Repetition. MHBC Professionals Will Also Briefly Discuss The Origins of Jazz Music Which Evolved From Enslaved Africans In The Southern United States. A Repertoire List of Tunes That Are The Foundation for Jazz Improvisation Will Be Provided. Phase 2: Performance Sit-In Series - At Each Concert The Students Will Come Up and Play Individually One-on-one With The Band. Phase 3: Evaluation and Review The Attendance and Progress of Each Student Will Be Monitored. There Will Be A Final Survey for All Participants Focusing On How They Gained Confidence Overcame Any Fears and Were Inspired to Practice and Prepare. The MHBC Will Review Assessments to Make Changes to The Program and Encourage Continued Involvement of T
