What they do

OUR RESCUE PROVIDES A FREE-ROAM RETIREMENT HOME for UNWANTED, ABUSED and ABANDONED ANIMALS. WE HOST WORKSHOPS to TEACH PEOPLE SUSTAINABLE LAND, LIVESTOCK and RESOURCE MANAGEMENT and BASIC LIVESTOCK HANDLING. THEY CAN LEARN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VARIOUS LIVESTOCK, E.G., HOW A LLAMA DIFFERS FROM AN ALPACA. WE DO NOT KEEP THE ANIMALS PERMANENTLY CONFINED IN CORRALS, ASIDE FROM THE FOWL WHICH ARE KEPT IN ENCLOSURES to PROTECT THEM FROM PREDATORS. THE ONLY ANIMALS THAT ARE KEPT IN ENCLOSURES ARE OLDER, IN QUARANTINE, INJURED, or IN TRAINING. MOST of OUR BOVINES, EQUINES, CAMELIDS, OVINE, and CAPRINE ARE LOOSE ON THE 33-ACRE RANCH. THIS ENABLES THE LIVESTOCK to INTERACT AMONG THEMSELVES and WITH PEOPLE and to THE LEVEL THEY ARE COMFORTABLE. ALL THE RANCH RESIDENTS ARE MAINTAINED WITH A HEALTHY DIET, ON-SITE VETERINARIAN CARE and OTHER SERVICES AS NEEDED for THAT ANIMAL. WE WORK WITH ANY ANIMAL THAT is SHY or HAS BEHAVIORAL ISSUES to HELP THEM INTEGRATE WITH THE REST of THE HERD. WE FOSTER T

Look at where the money went

Of every $100 spent, about $100.00 was reported for mission work. Use the spending picture below and ask what results that work produced.

Plain answer: A tax form cannot prove that a charity is doing good. It can show how the charity says it spent its money—and point out questions you should ask.

Ask these three easy questions

  1. Who did you help? Ask for a recent story or report that shows real results.
  2. What will my money do? Ask exactly what your gift will pay for.
  3. Is this really the charity? Give only through its official website or confirmed phone number.

Bottom line: Do not decide from a name, mission statement, or tax status alone. Look at where the money went, then ask what changed, who was helped, and what your gift will do. YouCanGiveBack does not endorse or grade organizations.

Has the pattern changed?

Colored bars = expense mix: how each year’s expenses were divided. Total expenses vs. revenue shows whether the charity spent less or more than it received. The current filing is first.
