AT THE OUTSET of 2025, THE SWEET DREAMS SENIOR PET SANCTUARY (SDSPS) HAD 16 SENIOR DOGS and 4 SENIOR CATS IN ITS CARE. OVER THE COURSE of THE YEAR, THE SANCTUARY RECEIVED AN ADDITIONAL 7 SENIOR DOGS, RESULTING IN A TOTAL of 23 SENIOR DOGS and 4 SENIOR CATS ENROLLED IN OUR PROGRAM THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. WE ALSO HAD 3 DEATHS, SO WE ENDED THE YEAR WITH 20 SENIOR DOGS and 4 SENIOR CATS. THESE ANIMALS WERE SURRENDERED PRIMARILY DUE to CHANGES IN THEIR ELDERLY OWNERS CIRCUMSTANCES, PARTICULARLY RELATED to DECLINING HEALTH, TRANSITIONS to ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES and NURSING HOMES, or OTHER HOUSING SITUATIONS WHERE PET OWNERSHIP WAS NO LONGER FEASIBLE. SIX ELDERLY INDIVIDUALS WERE DIRECTLY SUPPORTED IN 2025 BY THE MISSION of SWEET DREAMS SENIOR PET SANCTUARY DURING PERIODS of SIGNIFICANT LIFE CHANGE, SUCH AS TRANSITIONING INTO ASSISTED LIVING or EXPERIENCING DECLINING HEALTH. THROUGH THE STRUCTURED SURRENDER PROCESS, THESE INDIVIDUALS WERE ABLE to PLACE THEIR SENIOR PETS INTO THE SANCTUARYS C
