Details on what is needed: The overarching goal of this project is to empower low to moderate-income individuals through the provision of free, quality tax preparation services. Offering free tax preparation services, eliminates the financial burden associated with paid tax services. Access to tax credits, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), is provided, significantly impacting the financial well-being of eligible individuals. Moreover, opportunities for financial education and training aim to improve economic opportunities and stability. In 2023 we saved our clients just under $200,000 in tax preparation fees and brought $1,187,589 back into our community and into the hands of community members who need it the most. The ROI on this program is more than just dollars. An important social determinants of health is Economic Stability. Financially stable people are more likely to have access to quality health care, provide a good education for their children, and contribute to improving their local economies. VITA provides the opportunity for financial wellness that not only benefits the individuals and families but benefits the entire community.
