MIXTAPE 7 Took Place At The Luminary Arts Center In Minneapolis MN On June 21st and 22nd 2025. The Event Uniquely Blended Dance Battles With Choreographed Dance Pieces Blurring The Lines Between Where One Form Ended and The Other Began. to Make The Experience Participatory and Immersive The Audience Served As The Judges for The Battles. Before The Event The Organizers Taught Attendees How to Judge Through Social Media Posts and In-person Discussions. Once The Event Began The Host Explained The Specific Judging Categories: Musicality Execution and Creativity. Each Night Eight Dancers Competed In An Elimination-style Tournament Advancing From The Top 8 to The Top 4 and Then to The Finals. A DJ Provided Random Music for The Battlers. Between Battles Five Choreographers Presented Original Works Accompanied By Live Music. This Innovative Format Proved Highly Successful Offering The Public A Clear Window Into Dance Battles While Also Showcasing Hip Hop Dance Theater Pieces.
